Drivers Allwinner A20

Whimsically monikered Chinese chip-maker has added a pair of ARM Cortex-A7 processors to its lineup supporting Android 4.2 or higher systems. The A20 is a dual-core design with 512KB L2 cache, dual-core Mali 400 graphics and 2160p HD video playback support, while the quad-core A31 packs a 1MB cache, PowerVR SGX 544 graphics and UHDTV (4k) video decoding talents. The A20 is pin compatible with its Linux-hobbyist favorite sibling, the -- meaning devices such as the using that chip could likely be upgraded by manufacturers on the cheap. However, the more powerful A31 seems destined for higher-end Android or Windows RT devices only, considering its beefier graphics.

On top of the extra zip, licensor Imagination Technologies keeps its source code cards close to the chest -- likely ruling out Linux for that chip.

Might as well add the Allwinner Dualcore-A23 to the mix. ProntoTec Axius Series 7 with Android 4.4.2 Firmware 4.4v2.0 Kernal 3.4.39 ttt@ttt#122 6/5/2014 Build number polaris_w001-eng 4.4.2 KVT test-keys It's a capable little budget unit but a serious battery hog, even with Wi-Fi turned off. It helps with wifi off but it still gobbles power for the OS. Not enough sys apps running in nice mode I suspect. I only paid $15 for it on ###### brand new for the 4gb version and then my wife decided she wanted one too that I paid $35 for but at least it had 6gb on board. I bought them almost exclusively for the purpose of being ereaders so I'm not too concerned but it would be nice to have a more power conserving ROM that integrates a Bluetooth driver. This one does have the USB host so a dongle is an option but I can tell getting a BT unit to run is going to be a challenge, at least on the surface of things.

They were stupid to not include a generic BT driver in the kernal when most dev micro-board distro's like the Raspberry Pi have one easily integrated out of the box. I'm not even sure I'm going to bother with it too much but the tinker in me wants to improve it. They've come a long way since the 1st and 2nd gen Pandigitals which is where I began my foray into the world of ereader size tabs and haunted this board quite regularly. Even the cheapo units are pretty decent comparitively speaking. I really need to solve the power consumption issue though, it's going to be a problem even for ereading because it sucks the life out of the power cell in about 1.5 hours without much activity at all.

Thadayam Serial. It's good to be back at SlateDroid. Bluestacks_hd_appplayerpro_setup New Version. These are exciting times with all the development micro boards available now so that we can actually build are own droid tabs quite cheaply with off the direct from China shelf parts and a bit of research and tinkering inside the Maker community revolution.

I'm glad to have SlateDroid to come back to and will try to contribute as much knowledge as I can in my up-coming builds. I've got all the parts I need to build my own Raspberry Pi (or possibly Arduino) based tablet build. The new 900mhz quad-core ARM Cortex A-7 platform from Raspberry Pi is quite promising.
